During the 2008 legislative session, GSGA past president Gene McClure of Atlanta was honored with a resolution by the Georgia House of Representatives for being named the USGA’s Joe Dey Award winner. The award annually recognizes meritorious service to the game as a volunteer. GSGA volunteer Allen Peake, a state representative from Macon, arranged for the resolution to be read in the House chambers with McClure’s family, colleagues and GSGA staff members in attendance.
